Martin Short

Martin Short burst onto the scene in the legendary comedy show SCTV over three decades ago and he has astonished audiences non-stop ever since. International fame followed his joining the cast of Saturday Night Live, which led to his starring role in Three Amigos. And that launched a career that found him working with the likes of Tim Burton, Steve Martin, Diane Keaton, Kurt Russell and countless other gifted artists.

Short’s love of character comedy has given birth to many beloved alter egos over the years, such as Ed Grimley from SCTV, Franck Eggelhoffer from Father of the Bride and Jiminy Glick from Primetime Glick.

He is a Tony Award winner for best actor in a musical for his performance in the Broadway revival of Little Me. He was also nominated in the same category in 1993 for The Goodbye Girl, and again in 2007 for supporting or featured actor in a musical for Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me.

His numerous films include The Big Picture, Pure Luck, Captain Ron, Three Fugitives, Clifford, The Prince of Egypt, and Tim Burton’s Mars Attacks and Frankenweenie.

Besides hosting his own talk show, Short has done several award winning TV specials, including I, Martin Short Goes Hollywood. He has appeared on numerous TV series, such as Arrested Development, Weeds, How I Met Your Mother, Law and Order: Special Victims Unit and Curb Your Enthusiasm. An Emmy nomination in the third season of the hit show Damages showcased Short’s talent as a dramatic actor and performer who has apparently no limits to his versatility.

His role as Michael in Stealing Dawn is the latest of many collaborations with writer-director Paul Flaherty.
